Admission Requirements

Bard College Berlin’s programs are taught entirely in English. Therefore, applicants should possess knowledge of English equivalent to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. (scroll down for equivalent test scores). Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and should have completed at least 1.5 years of studies at their home university.

Application Process

As soon as you have been nominated to participate in the exchange program by your home university, please fill out the application form completely and legibly and send it to the Student Affairs Officer together with the other required documents. Please submit your application via email to t.joaquim@berlin.bard.edu. In addition, a hard copy of your application should be sent via postal mail to:

Applicants will be informed about the admissions decision within 6 weeks after arrival of the application. If you are admitted, you will need to confirm your intention to attend Bard College Berlin by the deadline indicated in the confirmation letter. Once you confirm your intention to study abroad at Bard College Berlin, we will send you an official confirmation letter for the embassy. 

Information for International Students

Begin the visa application process promptly. Background checks for international students are time-intensive. The visa application process generally takes 6-8 weeks, and in exceptional cases even longer.

Once we receive your acceptance form, we will send you an official confirmation letter for the embassy. File your visa application as soon as you receive this document. In the end, you are responsible for making sure that all visa procedures are completed well ahead of your travel to Berlin.

Bard College Berlin has a strict attendance policy and absences due to late arrival will count as unexcused absences and may lead to failed courses and jeopardized student status.
