Bard College Berlin offers students two options for paying their tuition and fees.

Option 1: Standard Payment Schedule

The annual comprehensive fee is payable in four installments per year: the fall term fee in July and August, and the spring term fee in December and January. The College also offers the Bard Budget Plan (BBP), which allows payments of the comprehensive fee to be made in monthly installments. If tuition payment is not received by the deadline indicated in the payment schedule, a EUR 30,- late fee is charged per billing statement.

 Payment Date Fees
 May 1 €500 non-refundable deposit (first-year students only)
May 15 (extra) €208.80 semesterticket fee (price is subject to change)
July 15 (Fall 1)  25% of annual on/off-campus comprehensive fee (-500€ enrollment deposit for students in their first year of attending)
August 15 (Fall 2)   25% of annual on/off-campus comprehensive fee
 October 15 (extra)  ~ 10-90€ reader fee
November 15 (extra)  €208.80 semesterticket fee (price is subject to change)
December 15 (Spring 1)  25% of annual on/off-campus comprehensive fee
January 15 (Spring 2)   25% of annual on/off-campus comprehensive fee
 March 15 (extra)  ~ 10-90€ reader fee

  • The non-refundable deposit of €500 is paid upon admission/renewal of financial aid and is applied as a credit to the first fall payment.
  • Students who receive scholarships or financial aid awards should subtract those amounts from their total comprehensive fee. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions about your scholarship or financial aid. All questions related to your bill or semester fee payments should be directed to Student Accounts Office.

Option 2: Bard Budget Plan

The Bard Budget Plan (BBP) is an alternative payment system and allows student account payments of required fees to be made in 10 installments from July through the following April. The plan participant receives a billing statement each month. In order to maintain enrollment in the BBP, a participant's account must be kept current each month. A €30 annual application fee covers administration of the plan. This once-a-year, non-refundable fee is not reflected in the installment amount. To apply for the BBP, please contact the Student Accounts Office ([email protected]).

Once your completed application is received by our office, your student account will be set up on the payment plan. The next month’s billing statement will reflect the monthly installment amount, and the current due amount, which is the amount that must be received for the student’s account. All charges billed on the current statements that are not covered by the BBP or financial aid are also due and payable by the date noted on the statement.
Payments are due by the date noted on each monthly statement. Accounts not paid by the due date are subject to a late fee of €30 per billing statement. Bard College Berlin reserves the right to terminate the plan in case of two or more late payments. Please refer to the BCB Student Handbook for information regarding policy with respect to finances.

Non-Allowable Expenses
There are two fees that cannot be paid in installments, namely the Semesterticket Fee (payable in full in May 15 for Fall and in November 15 for the Spring semester) and the Reader Fee (payable in full in October for the Fall semester and in March for the Spring semester, respectively).

Monthly Installments Dates under the Bard Budget Plan:

  • Fall Semester
    • July 15
    • August 15
    • September 15
    • October 15
    • November 15
  • Spring Semester
    • December 15
    • January 15
    • February 15
    • March 15
    • April 15

Summer/Winter Break

Please be aware that summer and winter break accommodations are not included in the on-campus comprehensive fee. Students wishing to stay on campus during summer and winter breaks have to pay for their housing separately by the specified deadline for each break interval. Students who do not wish to pay for housing over breaks should make travel arrangements in accordance with the academic calendar, which indicates when the residence halls open before the beginning of each semester and when the residence halls close at the end of each semester.

Payment Methods

Students have three options to make their payments.

Option 1: Wire Transfer

Wire transfers should be made to Bard College Berlin's account:

Recipient:          Bard College Berlin
Bank Name:      HypoVereinsbank  (part of Unicredit Bank GmbH)
Bank Address:  Leibnizstr. 100
                                10625 Berlin
                                Germany

Account Nr.:      26868556
Sort Code:         100 208 90
IBAN:                    DE98 1002 0890 0026 8685 56
SWIFT (BIC):      HYVEDEMM488
Please include the student's name when making the transfer. This will allow us to match the payment to the correct student account.

International wire transfers may accrue bank-processing fees, depending on the bank involved. When arranging transfers, please remember to add this processing fee to the amount being transferred. Fees retained by a bank will remain as an unpaid balance due on the student’s account.

Option 2: Check in U.S. dollars

Bard College Berlin also offers the option to pay by check in U.S. dollars.

Checks should be mailed to:

Bard College Berlin
Attn: Sabine Beelitz
Platanenstrasse 24
13156 Berlin
Germany

Banks in Germany charge a processing fee of approximately €30 for international checks.
Please make sure to add 30€ for bank processing fees to the total amount due stated on the invoice.

Bank charges are to be covered by the sender. Only the amount BCB receives will be processed to the BCB student’s account. Fees retained by a bank will remain as an unpaid balance due on the BCB student’s account.

Please note that this procedure takes at least 2 weeks so make sure to send the check ahead of the due day.
To cover a euro balance to U.S. dollars, we recommend using an online currency converter.

Option 3: Online Credit Card Payments

For online credit card payments we recommend using the third-party service Wise.

Making your Payment

When transferring your payment to Bard College Berlin, please include the student's name and/or ID number as a reference.

Financial Aid Renewal

Financial Aid is awarded on an annual basis and applicants need to reapply each year. Students who enter Bard College Berlin with a financial aid award can expect that the same level of aid will be renewed in the subsequent years, provided that the student re-applies for aid each year and continues to demonstrate a similar level of financial need. The deadline for renewal of applications is April 1 of each year.
