Summer / Winter Programs

Bard College Berlin offers a number of programs during the summer or winter months that are available not only to students at Bard College but to college students from throughout North America. These programs typically integrate academic experience with a feel for the city of Berlin. Students have the opportunity to participate in various cocurricular activities that draw on Berlin's rich offerings, and to visit museums, galleries, and other places of cultural or historical interest in the city.
Our current opportunities are as follows:

Summer Theater Intensive

Summer Theater Intensive
June 9 – July 9, 2018
The Summer Theater Intensive program aims to foster the creative engagement between students and a wide variety of multidisciplinary artists working in theater and performance in Berlin. The program explores techniques in the devising and creating of original theater works, as well as immerses the participants in Berlin's theater and performance culture through regular outings to performances, museums, galleries, and other cultural venues; to Berlin’s artistic or historical landmarks; and through meetings with artists.

Berlin Summer Studio

Berlin Summer Studio
July 14 – August 11, 2018
The Berlin Summer Studio program aims to provide participants with an insider’s view of Berlin’s vibrant art world through a unique course featuring a different theme each summer. The 2018 program theme, Memory and Material, offers a rich platform to explore and question how the languages of form, material, and light speak to multiple storylines.

Winter German Language Intensive

Winter German Language Intensive
January 3 – January 21, 2019
The German Language Intensive program aims to foster language acquisition in a cultural context, and helps students with intermediary language skills improve their knowledge of German language and culture. Language is taught in conjunction with a cultural program that exposes students to a wide variety of artistic, historical, and cultural experiences. The program is for students at North American universities who have completed at least two semesters of college-level German or its equivalent.
