Summer / Winter Programs

Bard College Berlin offers a number of programs during the summer or winter months that are available not only to students at Bard College but to college students from throughout North America. These programs typically integrate academic experience with a feel for the city of Berlin. Students have the opportunity to participate in various cocurricular activities that draw on Berlin's rich offerings, and to visit museums, galleries, and other places of cultural or historical interest in the city. 
Our current opportunities are as follows:

Summer Theater Intensive

Summer Theater Intensive
June 8 – July 8, 2019
The Summer Theater Intensive program aims to foster the creative engagement between students and a wide variety of multidisciplinary artists working in theater and performance in Berlin. The program explores techniques in the devising and creating of original theater works, as well as immerses the participants in Berlin's theater and performance culture through regular outings to performances, museums, galleries, and other cultural venues; to Berlin’s artistic or historical landmarks; and through meetings with artists.

Berlin Summer Studio

Berlin Summer Studio
July 13 – August 10, 2019
The Berlin Summer Studio program aims to provide participants with an insider’s view of Berlin’s vibrant art world through a unique course featuring a different theme each summer. The 2019 program theme, Colorama, focuses on Berlin's culture and history of visual color.

Winter German Language Intensive

Winter German Language Intensive
approx. January 3, 2020  – January 21, 2020
The German Language Intensive program aims to foster language acquisition in a cultural context, and helps students with intermediary language skills improve their knowledge of German language and culture. Language is taught in conjunction with a cultural program that exposes students to a wide variety of artistic, historical, and cultural experiences. The program is only open to students enrolled at Bard College, Annandale.
