Film Screening and Discussion of Crip Camp with Jessica Milbern

Come join us on Monday, October 5 at 5:30PM in P98A Lecture Hall for food and a film screening of Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution, followed by a discussion with guest speaker Jessica Milbern, sister of the late disability justice activist Stacey Milbern.

Crip Camp is an award-winning 2020 documentary that follows the story of Camp Jened, a free-spirited summer camp in New York that helped spark the disability rights movement. Through political organizing, they successfully fought against isolation and institutionalization to demand equal access, culminating directly in the landmark passage of the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Stay after the film for a Q&A with Jessica Milbern. She will discuss the life and legacy of her sister Stacey, expressing just how much Stacey played a role in furthering the disability justice movement, including serving as Impact Producer for the promotion & message of Crip Camp.
