Online Event: Immigration Challenges for Students and Scholars in Germany

Part I: Legal Information Session (1 hour)
Dr. Matthias Lehnert, an immigration lawyer, will provide an overview of current immigration and residency laws, regulations, and requirements in Germany. The session will also include an opportunity for participants to ask questions.
Part II: Panel Discussion (1 hour)
Panelists Dr. Olena Bogdan, Ali ATH and Zainab Efthekari will each talk about the residency-related challenges faced by their respective communities (Ukrainian and Afghan) of students and scholars in Germany. This 20-minute discussion will be followed by an open Q&A and audience comments. We look forward to an informative and engaging conversation on the evolving immigration landscape and its impact on international academic communities in Germany.
Dr. Matthias Lehnert received his Doctorate in Law (Dr. jur.) at the University of Münster (Frontex and operational measures at the European external borders. Administrative cooperation – substantive legal bases – institutional control, Baden-Baden 2014) He completed his legal traineeship at the Berlin Court of Appeal, and works as a lawyer at a law firm specializing in immigration law since 2014.
