Dr. Andreas Martin Widmann presents his novel Eddi at Literarisches Colloquium Berlin
Eddi (published by Weissbooks) tells the story of fifteen-year-old Eddi, who attends a sports boarding school near Neubrandenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. When her parents, both teachers at the school, are suddenly forced to prepare a move to Japan after her mother is accused of abuse of power, Eddi has only three days left to either avert her fate or reinvent herself entirely. Reviewers have drawn comparisons between the novel's protagonist and Holden Caulfield from J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye, noting that both are solitary teenagers who struggle to understand — and be understood by — the adults around them. Eddi is Widmann's third novel, following Die Glücksparade (2012) and Messias (2018).
