Bard College Berlin News
Dr. Andreas Martin Widmann will speak with Hans Keilson biographer Jos Versteegen at the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek in Frankfurt
Keilson, whose first novel was published in 1933, fled Germany to escape the Nazi terror and spent the rest of his life in the Netherlands. He received late international critical acclaim when, at the age of 100 years, he was hailed "a genius" by the New York Times. In 2013, Widmann wrote the introduction to and co-edited the first academic volume on Keilson's work as a writer. At Bard College Berlin, Widmann has regularly taught Keilson's 1947 novella „Komödie in Moll“ (Comedy in a Minor Key) in German classes.
