Dr. Berit Ebert has been awarded an OSUN Fellowship for travel to Kyrgyzstan 

Dr. Berit Ebert, political science faculty member and Director of Public Programs and Strategic Initiatives at Bard College Berlin, has been awarded a short-term Visiting Faculty Fellowship from the Open Society University Network (OSUN) to stay at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in April 2025. The fellowship will support her research and teaching on the importance of recognizing gender equality in international investment treaties.

Ebert will conduct guest lectures related to international investment law and gender equality as part of Dr. Begaiym Esenkulova's OSUN network course on "International Investment Dispute Settlement, Human Rights, and Justice."

As part of her collaboration with AUCA, Ebert contributed to the new open-access textbook Investment Law, Justice, and Sustainable Development edited by Professor Frank Emmert (Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law) and Dr. Begaiym Esenkulova. She authored the chapter titled "International Investment Treaties and the Promotion of Gender Equality," which details how gender concerns must form an integral part of international investment agreements to foster sustainable and trustworthy investment decisions. Her analysis highlights the intersection of gender equality with economic development and the transformative potential of embedding these principles into legal frameworks.
