Dr. Giulia Clabassi's doctoral thesis published by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Dr. Giulia Clabassi's doctoral thesis, Kinēsis: The Structure of Motion in Aristotle's Physics VIII (4-6), was published by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in May 2026. It is now available in open-access format via e-doc and in print at the Grimm-Zentrum library. 

The dissertation examines Aristotle's Physics VIII to investigate how motion occurs and is articulated in the world. The first three chapters are structured as a continuous commentary on the Greek text, moving from the classification of motions, to what it is to be a first cause, to motion in living beings as "self-movers" and its relation to the first, eternal, unmoved mover. The final chapter departs from this format to place Aristotle in dialogue with contemporary metaphysical theories of agency and partner powers.
