Dr. Martin Widmann speaks about his debut novel “Die Glücksparade” (2012) at Universität Siegen
Dr. Martin Widmann’s 2012 debut novel “Die Glücksparade“ is on the syllabus of Prof. Maren Lickhardt’s seminar on contemporary fiction at the University of Siegen. In June 2025, Martin Widmann joined Prof. Lickhardt’s class for a guest lecture. In his talk and in conversation with the students, Widmann discussed the novel’s inception, its formal aspects and the writing process. Looking back on the book more than a decade after its release, he considered how that early work about a boy’s coming of age in a trailer on a run-down camping site shaped his path as a writer and educator. He offered observations on recent changes in the publishing industry and spoke about the practical questions of finding a path from manuscript to publication. Martin Widmann is going to return to the Universität Siegen in Spring 2026 for another event on occasion of the release of his forthcoming third novel.
