30 Minute Mindful Writing
Wednesday, September 30, 2026 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm CET/GMT+1Learning Commons (W16, room 205)
Does it seem like there’s never free time to write? Always pressured by another deadline or to-do list item? Tempted by a few more minutes of doom scrolling or GPT chatting? These SHORT workshops start with a sense of the body and place to ground inventive and exploratory writing.
1) Present to the Body, Writing to the Moment. On Wednesday, September 30th, join us for a short breath and body scan that turns to the sensation of your hands themselves as you write! You may be surprised by the new connections and precision in your writing.
2 ) Letting Go: Writing to Make Room for Finals. On Wednesday, November 4th, join us for a short mediation that draws attention to supportive contexts for your work, then turns to writing that makes space for new insights.
Both workshops will be held from 1pm-1:30pm in the Learning Commons (Waldstrasse 16, room 205).
Mindful writing offers strategies for drawing on your present bodily and environmental context as sources of inventive and exploratory writing. It can be particularly effective in countering blocking anxieties, such as those related to the audience and future revision. Drawing on the work of Alexandria Peary and Christy Wegner, these workshops adapt techniques of meditation to develop new awareness and connection to writing.
