Pankow Conversations: Open Mic!
Saturday, December 2, 2017 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm EST/GMT-5Bard College Berlin, the Factory
The final event in the Pankow Conversations series is an Open Mic hosted in Bard College Berlin's arts building The Factory on Saturday, December 2nd.
Pankow Conversations is a series of three conversation evenings taking place in three different locations in Pankow in October, November and December 2017. The goal is to organize interactive community events, each dedicated to one theme connected to migration that will be explored and discussed in an open forum in order to bring together our neighbors around Pankow, residents of refugee shelters and Bard College Berlin students.
The project is an extension of Campus Conversations, a student-run, weekly event on the Bard College Berlin campus, which was initiated in 2016 and has an excellent track record of bringing refugees, students and neighbors together for language learning and cultural exchange.
The Open Mic night welcomes all performers— musicians, actors, storytellers, poets and writers— in Pankow to come together to perform alongside students of Bard College Berlin. Before the Open Mic, a slam poetry workshop will take place, during which participants can create poems to perform at the Open Mic directly after. Poems can be written and performed in Arabic, English or German.
Translation between Arabic, English, and German will be provided.
Time: Saturday, December 2, 2017, 7:00pm (poetry slam workshop from 5:30pm)
