Guest talk by Sudesh Mishra (University of the South Pacific)
Bard College Berlin is delighted to host Sudesh Mishra as guest speaker for a joint event of the seminars "Global Citizenship" and "Performing the Anthropocene” which explores the role of the liberal arts in formulating responses to and creating civic engagement with Climate Change.
Sudesh Mishra is a poet and scholar from Fiji whose work explores the Anthropocene creatively as well as philosophically, also offering a lens specifically on the situation in his native Fiji. He is currently visiting Berlin for the MORE WORLD conference that explores cooperative approaches to adapting to Climate Change across borders. Sudesh is Head of the School of Language, Arts and Media at University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji. He has previously taught in Scotland, Australia, and India. His most recent publications include Diaspora Criticism (Edinburgh University Press, 2006) and the poetry collection Memoirs of a Reluctant Travel (Wakefield, 1994).
