Mustafa Mayar ‘25 selected as Humanities Fellow by the Hertog Foundation
Mayar is one of the 45 fellows that have been accepted to the spring 2026 seminar. He will study works such as Dante’s Divine Comedy, works by Mark Twain, and The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes.
The Hertog Foundation, founded by its president, Robert Hertog, “offers several highly competitive and selective educational programs for outstanding individuals who seek to influence the intellectual, civic, and political life of the United States.” The programs are offered in various fields, such as humanities, political science, constitutional studies, and war and security studies.
Since 2020, the Humanities at Hertog program has aimed to provide a rigorous and exemplary virtual educational experience to a small cohort of fellows who share a love of ideas, guided by a passionate teacher. The courses offered through the Humanities program allow fellows to reflect on what great texts bring to bear on enduring questions as well as how to begin a community in conversation.
