Bard College Berlin – Neue Geschäftsführung

Seit dem 1. Juli 2015 sind Dr. Florian N. Becker und Taun N. Toay die Geschäftsführer des Bard College Berlin. Sie übernehmen diese Aufgabe von Professor Thomas Rommel und Professor Dimitri B. Papadimitriou, die die Geschäfte des Colleges von 2011 bis 2015 leiteten.

„Becker und Toay sind mit der Entwicklung des Bard College Berlin eng vertraut und verfügen über die Erfahrung und das Engagement, die notwendig sind, um auf die Erfolge der letzten Jahre aufzubauen und den einzigartigen Bildungsauftrag des Bard College Berlin fest zu etablieren,” teilte Leon Botstein, Präsident des Bard College, Annandale (USA), mit.

Dr. Florian N. Becker ist seit 2012 in der Universitätsleitung in Berlin tätig. Er ist Associate Professor für Germanistik und vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft am Bard College (USA), wo er von 2005 bis 2012 unterrichtete. Sein Arbeitsschwerpunkt ist das deutschsprachige Theater des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts.

Taun N. Toay ist Vice President for Strategic Initiatives und Chief of Staff am Bard College, und Geschäftsführer des Levy Economics Institute. Seine Forschungsarbeiten beschäftigen sich mit makroökonomischer Modellierung, Gender-bewusster Analyse, und der griechischen Wirtschaft. 2005 bis 2006 war er Fulbright-Stipendiat und Gastwissenschaftler an der Piräus-Universität in Griechenland.

Das Bard College Berlin ist eine staatlich anerkannte gemeinnützige Universität, die deutsche und USamerikanische Bachelor-Studiengänge in „Economics, Politics, and Social Thought” und in „Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought” anbietet. Das Curriculum verbindet klassische Bildung mit der kritischen Betrachtung zeitgenössischer Herausforderungen. Internationalität und Interdisziplinarität prägen den Studienalltag und die Kontakte, die das Bard College Berlin zu führenden Universitäten und wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen im In- und Ausland pflegt.

In the United States, Bard College Berlin is accredited through
Bard College by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Qualifying students receive both a German BA and an American BA.
