Tanishka Murthy '27 selected for Public Policy Fellowship at Salzburg Global
As a fellow, Tanishka worked with democracy initiatives and international organizations, and also participated in the the Creative Bureaucracy Festival in Berlin, the Diversify Nordic Summit in Oslo, and traveled to Salzburg for a week-long stay. During her time in Salzburg, she crafted policy proposals and presented them to members of the OECD, international democracy initiatives, and UN human rights lawyers.
One of Tanishka's key takeways from the fellowship is the importance of bringing love and humanity into conversations. "We have gotten so deep into conversations on rights, policies, legislature and everything which has such deep rooted structural elements, that we often forget that at the end of the day, what most of us want is for everyone to be safe, happy and feel loved," she explains on LinkedIn. "It seems like such a simple thing but I found that reminding myself of 'why' exactly I care about the causes I fight for, is the only way in which I can fight for them authentically, and in a way that brings tangible change. We are always dealing with real people and feelings and that, to me, is important to keep in mind no matter what I do."
