Uplifting members of diverse, marginalized communities: BCB DEI Director Lauren Gaillard speaks on DEI topics in Berlin
On March 19, Gaillard was a panelist at Le Wagon Germany, the largest tech bootcamp in Europe, to discuss the importance of allyship and support for BIPOC women in the workplace. The panel, titled “Building allyship and support,” focused on navigating the tech industry as BIPOC women in the workplace.
On March 26, Gaillard was a speaker for one of DKB Code Factory's event series on exploring DEI topics. DKB Code Factory is an innovation hub connected to DKB, one of Germany’s largest banks. She spoke on intercultural and interpersonal communication skills needed when working in a global team.
In addition, on April 6 Gaillard spoke on “DEI Backlash and its impact in Germany” at the "Europe: Consider it All!" conference hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in collaboration with Humboldt University in Berlin. The conference will soon be posted on YouTube for those interested in watching.
“It is always an honor to take part in events that deepen knowledge on difficult topics in a way that also uplifts members of diverse, marginalized communities,” Gaillard says about the events. “I'm grateful for the sense of community I felt at these events and for the curiosity of the participants. It was really inspiring.”
