GHEA21 is a global network that brings students from diverse geographies and backgrounds together through rigorous liberal arts and sciences education to address global challenges as thoughtful and engaged citizens. It has 27+ member institutions in countries including Colombia, Bangladesh, Germany, Jamaica, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, and the United States.
Programs focus on undergraduate education through a shared curriculum of courses designed to enhance global learning, critical thinking, and cross-cultural collaboration. Students can enroll in virtual classes taught by professors across the network and obtain academic certificates in Human Rights, Civic Engagement, Global Humanities and more.
Moving forward the work of the former Open Society University Network (OSUN, 2020-2025), GHEA21 fosters civic engagement through a combination of classroom- and community-based learning. It empowers student leadership through global fellowship programs and conferences. It builds resilience for academic freedom and opens and sustains access to education through network collaboration and institutional commitments to displaced and threatened institutions, scholars, and students.

The network has been instrumental in reconnecting students from various campuses globally, bridging the gap in their understanding of complex concepts like global citizenship, global justice, and climate change. This connection helps students not only understand different contexts but also empathize with diverse perspectives. Additionally, students can further develop their interdisciplinary knowledge, which is essential for tackling today's complex issues. This enhanced understanding and skill set, particularly the certifications, has evidently been a great asset to students' applications for specific graduate programs following their liberal arts degrees.
Dr. Nassim AbiGhanem
The Network Collaborative Course has empowered my colleagues and me to connect with and teach student communities that would otherwise remain out of reach in today’s world of conflict. Through its support, we have been able to engage young people in conflict-affected regions and link them with peers in Berlin for collaborative learning on the topics of human and fundamental rights and the respective legal, political, and economic discourses. This exchange fosters direct engagement with diverse and often challenging perspectives, while nurturing a commitment to dialogue, empathy, and mutual understanding. The NCC is, without doubt, a vital resource in shaping the next generation of responsible decision-makers.

The network has supported me to expand my initiatives and projects both through financial means and through connecting me with a global community of passionate individuals who want to make a difference through their work
