On May 16, 2025, Dr.
Berit Ebert, faculty member at Bard College Berlin, presented at the 2025
EURINT International Conference Building Tomorrow's Europe: Strategies for Integration, Growth, and Resilience. Her presentation, titled "The Resilience of European Union Values", was part of the panel "Policy Pathways and Legal Frameworks for Resilient and Sustainable Societies". Ebert examined the values enshrined in Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU) and the corresponding legal mechanisms established to safeguard democracy, the rule of law, and gender equality within the EU and its Member States. She emphasized the Union’s multilevel governance structure and highlighted how its various levels interact and reinforce one another—particularly when core EU values are under threat and require active support from the citizens of Member States. Ebert detailed how specific social contexts give rise to highly specialized and selective forms of support for Union values, largely shaped by the particular goals of individuals or groups.
The EURINT conference series was launched by the Centre for European Studies at the University of Iași, Romania, in 2013, in the frame of the Jean Monnet Life Long Learning Programme. Since then, it has established itself as a visible academic event in the field of European Studies and has been developed in a conference series building a transnational research network.
