Dr. Marion Detjen publishes article in Neues Deutschland on free discourse at universities

Dr. Marion Detjen has published an article in Neues Deutschland titled "Diese Resolution zerstört den freien Diskursraum an Unis."

The article deals with the recently adopted parliamentary motion to "combat antisemitism and hostility against Israel in schools and universities and to secure the free space of discourse." Detjen writes that one needs to read the motion carefully to recognize the negative effects on universities and schools, on the freedom of science and teaching, and on public discourse as a whole. The fact that the IHRA definition of Antisemitism is to be made binding is incompatible with the educational and academic mission, she writes. The article interprets the resolution as a cover for the enforcement of a right-wing, authoritarian agenda.
