On February 1, BCB Professor of Politics Ewa Atanassow presented her latest book,
Tocqueville's Dilemmas, and Ours: Sovereignty, Nationalism, Globalization at the Sofia public library. The event was moderated by Daniel Smilov, Professor of Political Theory and Comparative Constitutional Law at Sofia University and hosted by the
Centre for Liberal Strategies, an influential think tank co-founded and chaired by the Bulgarian political scientist Ivan Krastev. Introducing Tocqueville to a wider audience and presenting the book's main findings, the conversation considered Tocquveille's reception in Eastern Europe and the significance of his ideas in today's divided world.
