Natalia Sahagún ‘24: From Bard College Berlin Resident Assistant to Project Manager at Red Onion
Natalia’s time at Red Onion began as an internship during her final semester. The Career Services office helped her tailor her resume to stand out among other applicants, and one-on-one career counseling with Career Services Manager Judith Weber equipped Natalia with the networking skills needed to navigate the job market in Germany with ease. When a full time position at Red Onion opened up around the time of her graduation, her exemplary work as an intern made her the perfect candidate.
Natalia was always a student who took advantage of all of Berlin’s cultural offerings, from visiting museum exhibits and going to concerts to frequenting gallery openings. Now, with her job at Red Onion, “I’ve been able to experience the wide network of dedicated people behind such cultural offerings,” says Natalia. “It’s been so cool to see the ways in which people from many fields come together to amplify each other’s voices and contribute to the rich atmosphere of the city’s events,” she shares.
One of her first big achievements as a full-time Red Onion employee was taking the lead on many of the logistical aspects of a recent TedX event in Berlin. Thanks to the connections and assistance provided by Natalia, many BCB students were able to volunteer and receive complimentary tickets to the event. The speakers at such events bring up a wide range of relevant topics, and the environment of discussion and open conversation fostered in such settings is a natural extension of many values present within our BCB community.
From her work as a Residential Assistant to her current position as project manager at Red Onion, Natalia has always embodied the spirit of collaboration at BCB. She is currently working on an upcoming TedX that will take place on April 11, so students interested in volunteering or attending the event should stay in touch for further updates.
