Prof. Dr. Laura Scuriatti has published an article on lies in children's literature in the literary supplement of the Italian daily Corriere della Sera, La Lettura delle ragazze e dei ragazzi in March 2025. On the occasion of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the publication of the stories of Pippi Longstocking at the Bologna Children's Bookfair, Scuriatti wrote about Astrid Lindgren's heroine in the thematic edition of the supplement, which was dedicated to lies, fake news, and deception in life and in the arts.

Scuriatti's article reflects on Pippi Longstocking's tall stories as an expression of Pippi's creativity, as ways to imagine possible worlds where non-normative behaviors can be accommodated, showing that Lindgren's books do not endorse lying, but rather show with a great sense of humor how to detect lies and manipulation.
