Rylee Mora ‘24 draws upon BCB education to begin role as Junior Content Manager at Earlybird Venture Capital

Rylee Mora ‘24, a graduate of the BA in Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought program with a concentration in Literature and Rhetoric, has recently began her first post-grad role working with a venture capital investment firm focused on European technology companies.

During her time at BCB, Rylee completed a work study program with Earlybird Venture Capital as a Marketing and Communications Working Student. Now, she has joined the organization's operations full-time as a Junior Content Manager. In this role, Earlybird wrote, “she’ll be contributing to the creation & curation of insightful content in all formats – showcasing [their] stellar portfolio companies and the teammates backing them.”

In a Q&A posted by the organization on LinkedIn, Rylee recounts how BCB’s curriculum prepared her for her current position. She notes, “Very quickly, I was surprised by how I could utilize my creative background in philosophy, art, and literature to inform how we communicate the vision and milestones of our portfolio companies. I can do this through supporting many aspects of Earlybird including the Investment Teams, Vision Lab Program, and Startup Success Team.” 

Rylee completed her BA thesis on the theme of “Historical Narratives of AI and their Ethical Implications,” a topic that she continues to explore in her work. She says, “Studying the origins of political economies inspired me to consider how we can build ethical frameworks. Reading the classics such as Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau, I envisioned how one could and should write a contemporary treatise on AI. This seed of interest paired with my passion for storytelling, sparked new questions I sought to answer: What stories have we been telling ourselves about AI and how are they informing our ethical considerations? To my surprise, these stories of AI begin a lot sooner than you might imagine, appearing in ancient Greek and Chinese literature.”
