Aaron Tugendhaft is the Robert Aird Chair of Humanities at Deep Springs College. Interdisciplinary to the point of undisciplined, Aaron has written two books, Baal and the Politics of Poetry (Routledge, 2018) and The Idols of ISIS: From Assyria to the Internet (Chicago, 2020; French translation, 2022), and published essays in Arion, Cabinet, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and The Jewish Review of Books. Committed to working with students of all ages, he also regularly teaches online Great Books seminars for adults through the University of Chicago Basic Program and recently founded The Abarbanel Institute to offer summer enrichment programs for high school students. Aaron holds a B.A. in Art History and an M.A. in Social Thought from The University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Hebrew and Judaic Studies from NYU. He taught in the core at Bard College Berlin from 2018-2021.New York University
