John Crutchfield

John Crutchfield grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina, and attended The University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and Cornell University. He now lives in Berlin, Germany, where he teaches writing at the Barenboim-Said Akademie für Musik and at Bard College Berlin, as well as working freelance as a translator of literary and scholarly texts. He is also co-founder and Associate Artistic Director of The Sublime Theater, for which he writes, designs, directs and performs original theatrical works. In addition to his plays and other performance pieces, he has published poems, essays, translations and reviews in a variety of print and online journals.
