Sinziana Paltineanu

Sînziana Păltineanu graduated from the Babeș-Bolyai University, in Cluj (Romania), with a BA in Philology - English and Japanese languages and literatures. In 2013, she earned a PhD in the Comparative History of Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe, from the Central European University in Budapest (Hungary). Previously, she held fellowships at Cornell University, in the US, at Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales, in France, and at Regensburg University, in Germany. While pursuing her main research interests in 19th century overlapping nation-building projects, women's history, and cultural history, she published book reviews and peer-reviewed articles in several journals, among which Aspasia and Nationalities Papers. More recently, she was awarded a fellowship for literature at Akademie Schloss Solitude, in Stuttgart (Germany), where she finished writing her first novel, Elephant Chronicles, published with Fiktion, in 2015.
