Ying Sze Pek

Ying Sze Pek is a scholar of twentieth and twenty-first century art and media. Her research explores how migration and colonial histories are imbricated in the formation of European and global artistic modernisms.Princeton University
Her current book-length project examines ideas of “re-education,” learning, and unlearning in West German film exhibition and education from transnational perspectives. She is also completing her book-in-progress on the oeuvre of filmmaker, artist, and theorist Hito Steyerl.
Pek has taught classes in art history, media studies, and cultural studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, and Princeton University.
