Learning Commons

Learning Commons

Bard College Berlin’s Learning Commons is located on the ground floor of the student residence hall at Kuckhoffstraße 24. The Learning Commons is staffed by the Academic Resources Officer as well as (typically) upper-division students who tutor in academic writing, math and German skills.

While the Learning Commons is available 24/7 as a study space, tutors hold office hours throughout the semester during which students may drop by to seek consultation.

A visit to the Writing Tutors can be helpful at all stages of the writing process, from generating ideas based upon an essay prompt distributed in class, to refining an outline or set of notes, to going over a near-final draft for clarity. At each stage, writing tutors engage students in a conversation about their work and their process, whether it is a short response paper or a senior thesis.

Regular appointments with a German Tutor are a great way to hone grammar as well vocabulary and verbal skills. German Tutors can help you at any stage of your language development, whether you are a beginner or an experienced learner.

Students are welcome to visit or set up appointments with tutors at any point during the semester. Whether it comes to math, German or writing, regular sessions are encouraged for the best improvement of skills over the long term.
