Agata Lisiak, Professor of Migration Studies, will present at Goldsmiths, University of London Event “A Global Sense of Place Revisited”

Professor of Migration Studies Agata Lisiak will discuss Doreen Massey’s influential 1991 essay, ‘A global sense of place’ alongside Suzanne Hall (London School of Economics) and Yasmin Gunaratnam (King’s College London) for the event “A Global Sense of Place Revisited” on Monday, February 13, 2023. The event is hosted by Dr. Emma Jackson, Director of the Centre for Urban and Community Research at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Massey is the subject of Lisiak’s podcast, Spatial Delight, and the event draws on themes found in the show’s third episode. The speakers will “examine how London’s imperialist and colonialist legacies are evident not only on the city’s streets, but also reach behind closed doors: into our classrooms, livingrooms, shops, and hospital wards. We consider the relevance of the essay for understanding the role of the wider geographies of interdependence in the making of the life of the street.”
