Frankenstein / Eine Uni ein Buch: Dead Ladies Show - Mary Shelley / Ada Lovelace / Mary Wollstonecraft

Tuesday, November 27, 2018 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm EST/GMT-5
Kunsthaus ACUD, Veteranenstr. 21, 10119 Berlin

With: Laura Scuriatti (Bard College Berlin), Katy Derbyshire (Literary Translator), Florian Duijsens (Bard College Berlin)

An event in the Frankenstein / Eine Uni ein Buch Fall 2018 program

The Dead Ladies Show celebrates women who achieved great things against all odds. Every two months, we invite special guests to share their love of particular ladies of yore in the form of lively presentations showcasing these women’s lives, works, and achievements. Our shows so far have covered all walks of life – from ancient mathematicians to silent-movie stars to record-breaking athletes – but for Bard College Berlin’s Frankenstein season, we have prepared a very special, all-English edition.

Aside from the great Mary Shelley, creator of both Frankenstein and his creature, the audience will also be treated to presentations on her mother, the ur-feminist Mary Wollstonecraft and Ada Lovelace, computing pioneer (and daughter of Shelley’s pal Lord Byron). Your presenters are Dead Ladies Show co-founders Katy Derbyshire and Florian Duijsens, and Laura Scuriatti, Professor of Comparative Literature at Bard College Berlin.

For all non-BCB visitors, the usual €3/5 entrance fee applies.

Date & time: Tuesday, November 27, 2018, from 8:00pm (doors open 7:30pm)
Venue: Kunsthaus ACUD
