Meet the BCB Class of 2028
First-year students have spent the past three weeks completing the Language and Thinking (L&T) program, BCB’s writing-intensive orientation course. Rézi Imre ‘28, from Hungary and Finland, has enjoyed this introduction to the BCB experience: “Every day here gives me a new opportunity to engage with someone from a different place, who holds a different life episteme and has different goals for the future. I am so excited to learn from new people and continue to grow as a person.” Something she looks forward to in her classes this semester is “discussion-based learning in small classes where I can get to know my peers on an intricate level.”
Jacob Bear ‘28, from the United States, also appreciated his time in the L&T program. “The variety of perspectives and narratives I've heard in L&T sessions, as well as just around campus, has made me so excited for what's to come,” he explains. “I feel like I've already learned so much in just a few weeks, starting conversations that I would've never had back home. The student body and staff are what make this school come to life and I'm delighted to see what's in store.” As he starts this semester, Jacob is looking forward to engaging with new topics, texts, and mediums in class. He says, “Bard Berlin offers such a wide variety of niche classes, and just from L&T I can tell that the learning process is up my alley.”
What else do new students look forward to about Bard College Berlin? Hana Trenčanová ‘28, from Slovakia, says, “To a large extent it is, of course, academics, but I am also quite thrilled to experience the community aspect of BCB. One of the reasons why I chose this university is its seemingly tight-knit community—the experience of not being a completely anonymous face among thousands of students.”
In addition to the new students who have arrived on campus, thirteen new instructors will be joining as visiting faculty at Bard College Berlin this semester, bringing expertise in politics, art, German studies, and other interdisciplinary topics. Read more about them here.
We wish everyone in the BCB community a wonderful fall semester!
