November Lights in Niederschönhausen: BCB Students Join Neighborhood Festival
This year, Bard College Berlin was invited to participate for the first time. Four students—Alma Dasberg, Sabrina Pierce, Mariem Abdennadher, and Hammayl Shammas—along with the Civic Engagement team and Dr. Martin Widmann, managed the BCB stand to inform neighbors about campus events open to the public and student-run civic engagement initiatives for neighbors to participate in, while handing out pretzels and homemade cookies. Students collected donations that will be used to support the work of neighborhood-based campus initiatives, such as English Hour, the Human Library, the Feminist Collective, and the Swap Shop.
Novemberlicht was a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors and answer questions about Bard College Berlin. The Civic Engagement Office also participates in the Kiezrunde Niederschönhausen in a variety of other ways; earlier this year, they hosted one of the monthly neighborhood network meetings on BCB’s campus.
