Lisiak facilitated a workshop titled “Writing for the Ear,” in which two dozen participants reflected on how to translate complex academic concepts into accessible, inviting, and enjoyable audio formats. The workshop included a listening component, fostering collective reflection in small discussion groups on the importance of storytelling, scene building, and sonic landscapes in academic podcasting.
The following day, Lisiak acted as a discussant for the Sociological Review 2024 Annual Lecture by Professor Alice Mah titled “Deep Time, Intergenerational Knowledge, and Socio-Ecological Futures.” Drawing on her extensive research on global petrochemical industry, Mah argued that the planetary ecological crisis requires sociologists to engage with far wider temporal and spatial scales than current methods allow.
The event was organized by The Sociological Review Foundation, which also hosts Lisiak’s podcast Spatial Delight.
