Bard College Berlin welcomes two new permanent faculty members and six new guest instructors; Prof. Dr. Thomas Eife instated as Professor of Economics

Bard College Berlin is pleased to announce that two new faculty members and six new guest instructors have joined the college faculty for the fall 2026 semester. 

Lucy Beech and Asad Raza have been appointed as Professors of Moving Image, co-teaching the Fine Arts course Hybrid Fictions: Opacity and Moving Image.

Beech holds an MA in Fine Art from Slade School of Fine Art at University College London. She is a British artist based in Berlin working across moving image, spatial sound and installation. Developed through collaborations with scientists, historians, poets, and ecologists, Beech’s films collapse disciplinary boundaries, producing new experimental narrative structures.

Raza holds an MA in English and American Literature from New York University. His work combines experiences, human and non-human beings, and objects, often exploring dialogical exchanges and rejecting disciplinary boundaries. Raza conceives of art as a metabolic, active experience, often involving interactive exhibitions, intimate settings, and participatory works.

In addition, the following artists and scholars have joined BCB as guest faculty for the fall semester:

• Elisabetta Ilaria Limone (PhD in Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies, University of Naples L’Orientale), teaching German Beginner A1 and German Intermediate B1
• Alexander Lumans (MFA in Fiction Writing, Southern Illinois University Carbondale), teaching Advanced Fiction Writing Workshop
• Jappe Mo Reintjes (MA in Animation, St. Joost School of Art & Design), co-teaching Marble Stone Sculpture with Raphael Beil
• Beatriz Morales, teaching Advanced Painting: Color Archaeology 
• Omri Polatsek (MA in Global History, Freie Universität Berlin), teaching Feeding the Planet, Eating the Earth: The Modern History and Future of our Food Systems
• Lakshmi Pradeep (PhD in South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore), teaching Science, Sea, and Society

Bard College Berlin is also delighted to share that Prof. Dr. Thomas Eife has been officially named Professor of Economics following confirmation of his professorial title by the Berlin Senatsverwaltung. Eife holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Munich, and his research interests include monetary economics and international economics, specifically on inflation expectations and productivity networks.
