Our degree programs provide an immersion in intellectual history from antiquity to the present day, preparing students for advanced study in a range of disciplines while ensuring that they gain specialist knowledge and a distinctive profile of study in a particular field of the humanities or social sciences. Small-group teaching and individual academic advising are a feature of both programs, as is progression toward independent research and the chance to experience the functioning and development of real-world institutions and projects. Study abroad—through the ERASMUS network, at Bard College in New York, or within the international Bard network—is possible in both programs, as is study at institutions around the world with which Bard College Berlin has exchange agreements. Both degrees begin with an intensive introductory program, Language and Thinking, that equips students for the demands of writing at the university level.
