German Version in German
The European Democracy Institute serves as a vital center for research, public debate, and educational initiatives on democracy in the 21st century. The Institute takes a broad view of democracy as a political regime that depends on functioning institutions as well as civic culture, economic stability, and geopolitical security.

Based in Berlin, a place whose history is deeply intertwined with the failures and successes of democratic governance, it actively seeks new collaborations with civil society, international scholars, and educational institutions to examine the state of democracy worldwide.

In its programming, the European Democracy Institute partners with the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW), Europapodcast, the New School for Social Research, and Princeton University.
